Clyst Hydon v Plymouth C.O. (friendly)

With most of Devon deciding to leave the County and watch Exeter City regain Football League status at Wembley (Well done GRECIANS!) It was time for Dumbledore to cast a spell and see who was left to make up a team that would face Plymouth...

Thanks to our illustrious Chairman and Chunky Dowell (who only came along for the beer) we were able to scrabble together a full team! Chunky played in his slippers which he is now considering adding spikes to!

Clyst Hydon won the toss and elected to field first.

Plymouth went on to score 206 despite some excellent bowling performances from Clinton Lewis, Mike Johnson, Dick Richards and Andy Sutton. Danujan came on to bowl the final few overs and frightened one of the Plymouth players into giving up his wicket (we did suggest he wore a helmet!)

After tea (supplied by Hoggy) it was the turn of the rag-tag team to go out and bat.

A great start from Dom Carswell and Mark Doyle made a victory seem possible, however, Mark had to go to work and things went a little downhill...

Wickets tumbled fairly quickly, including the one belonging to recent batting 'hero' Clinton Lewis who dollied a catch to a long leg slip fielder!

Hoggy made a rapid 20 and thought he could have made a few more until he was bowled behind his legs - I can still hear the voice of Dick Richards mumbling "MOVE YOUR FEET - That'll teach him!"

The game finally came to a halt when our last 2 batsmen (Dick Richards and Chunky Dowell) had tried very hard to bore the opposition to death with some great blocking play (yawn!)

Chunky finally got fed up trying to make Dick run '1' let alone a '3' and went for the big swipe, only stirring the air instead - the ball went on to strike his stumps and it was all over.

Plymouth ran out the victorious winners and everyone settled down to help them celebrate in the bar!
