Clyst Hydon 1st XI v Kilmington
LEADERS Clyst Hydon bounced back from their defeat at Seaton with a 53-run victory over Kilmington.
Kilmington did well enough with the ball, bowling the leaders out for 236 with Tom Gooding taking five for 39. .
In-form Ian Sutton made a top score of 94 for Clyst with Clinton Lewis chipping in with 33. and put on a valuable 98 run partnership for the second wicket, before Sutton pulled a full toss to be caught on the boundry for 94, missing out on another century.
After that wickets fell rapidy and innings closed at 236 a respectable score.
The Kilmington reply got off to a positive start, but three wickets fell in a hurry as they dipped to 43 four. with Sercombe and Nandana taking 2 wickets each.
"Once the fourth wicket went down we decided to look for the draw but they finally winkled us out two overs from home,” said skipper Gooding. Ralph Stonex (44), skipper Gooding (37) and Giles Dixon (31) all struggled againt good Clyst bowling but provided the top scores and the reply floundered on 183. Kevin Sercombe (3-12) and Dan Nandana (3-32) were the bowlers who put the skids under Kilmington.
At home Clyst Hydon look very strong and unbeatable, but must improve their away record and what better way to prove that with a good win away to Babbacombe, come on boys you can do it.
