CLYST HYDON 1st XI VS CHAGFORD JULY 19TH 2008

SERCOMBE BOWLS CLYST TO VICTORY WITH IMPRESSIVE SPELL

Clyst Hydon vice Captain K. Sercombe bowled an impressive spell of 6-45 to seal a good win over Chagford and overcome their bad away record.

Winning the toss and electing to bat without the services of Ian Sutton a chance was given to P. Harris to open with S. Doyle but they both fell cheaply.

In walked G. Trude (20) who with J. Rhodes (48) built up a stand of 86.

When Rhodes got a shocking delivery from a length to be hit on the gloves and a easy catch to short leg.
Soon after Lewis joined Trude and when Trude went for 20 C. Lewis (34) and D. Nandana (20) batted sensibly to put on 64 run partnership.
The visitors ended up with 199 for 9 after 46 overs. Skipper M. Dudley ending up unbeaten on 18.

Chagford started badly and were never in the hunt soon being 48 for 4, a good middle order batting by C. Mortimer (32) was the only one who put up some resistance until Sercombe changed ends and bowled well trapping most batsmen lbw to end with figures of 6-45 and D. Nandana 2-33 to seal a good win for Clyst Hydon.

Clyst Hydon (19 points) 199 for 9 (J Rhodes 48, C Lewis 34, D Nandana 26, D Endacott 3-25.) beat

Chagford (6 points) 134 AO (C Mortimore 32, K Sercombe 6-45, D Nandana 2-33.) by 65 runs
