Clyst Hydon get off to winning start!
Clyst IIs eased to a comfortable victory over Upottery IIs to secure a second consecutive league victory at the start of the 2009 campaign.
Clyst declared on 270-6 from 43 overs after skipper Dave Harris had won the toss and batted first, with the runs coming from Mike Glenny (70), Harris himself (55), Extras (40), Si Holmes (39) & Steve Doyle (28).
Glenny and Russ Corney (21no) posted an impressive 92 run stand for the fifth wicket.
Upottery faltered early in their reply, slumping to 61-5 against tight bowling from Matt Harris (5-42), Will Moore (4-43) & Chunky Dowell (1-8 from just eight overs).
The visitors then recovered with a stand of 64 between F Drew (48) & J Trevisick (23) before Si Holmes took a stunning reflex catch at silly-mid-off to dismiss Trevisick.
Upottery's tail battled valiantly for the draw, but had no response when Harris and Moore returned to complete their spells, collapsing again to 161 all out with nearly seven overs still remaining.
