CLYST HYDON VS BIDEFORD 30TH MAY 2009

Skipper Martin Dudley won the toss and elected to bat on a track that seemed easy to bat on in good sunny weather, perfect conditions for a league match.
Clyst were soon in trouble again with I.Sutton, D.Reed, P.Harris and M.Glenny all falling cheaply to leave Clyst reeling to 46 for 5, but some sensible batting from C. Lewis  who made 40 and some hard hitting 37 from W. Greig towards the end took the home team to a reasonable score of 175 all out in 45.1 overs, C.Luxton was the leading bowler with 4-44.

The chase couldnt have started any better with K.Sercombe trapping a batsman first ball of the match lbw, from then on wickets fell regularly and the visitors struggling on 137 for 9 due to some inspired bowling from W. Greig 4 -51, and W. Moore 3-22.

The visitors managed to hold on to a losing draw as Clyst could not bowl out the last pair with more than 11 overs to go.
Again poor batting performances, indifferent, indisciplined bowling cost Clyst the chance of winning the match outright.

Clyst Hydon 175 (C Lewis 40, W Gregg 37; C Luxton 4-44, J King 2-41, M Bettis 2-43), Bideford 160-9 (W Barrett 49, M Barrett 27; W Gregg 4-51, W Moore 3-22).

Clyst Hydon (14pts) drew with Bideford (10pts)
