Clyst Hydon II vs Kilmington II 13/6/09
Clyst 2nds moved up to second place in the 'D' Division East table with a 179-run victory over visitors Kilmington II. Clyst batted first and posted 287-8 before skipper Dave Harris declared with two overs remaining. Harris (22) put on 84 for the first wicket with Russ Corney before what proved to be a match-winning stand of 109 between Corney (106) and Nick Hodgin (56). Extras also chipped in with a valuable 43. A.Smith took a creditable 5-41 for Kilmington II as the Clyst tail looked to accelerate the scoring rate in the latter overs.
Star of the show with the ball was Chunky Dowell, who had the visitors reeling with an inspired spell of 5-25, including a stunning reflex caught-and-bowled to take the final Kilmington wicket. Dowell had good support from both Will Moore (2-19) & Bruce Wilkinson (2-32) and only opener G.Watts was able to offer any serious resistance with a hard-hitting 34 at the top of the innings.
