Clyst Hydon 1st XI vs Kingsbridge

CLYST HYDON LOSE AGAIN BY 1 WICKET

CLYST Hydon lost by one wicket in a nail-biter with Kingsbridge that worsened their chances of dodging an immediate return to the C Division.
Clyst, the side promoted with Kingsbridge this season, were all out for 176 after the bottom half of their order disappeared to left-armer James Fraser.
Fraser, back with Kingsbridge after a stint with Sandford and a break from the game, came back into the attack  when Clyst were 162 for five. He took four wickets in two overs as the home side collapsed.
Fraser finished with five for 24 while Josh Dorey claimed for four 24. Only three Clyst batsmen made decent totals: Clinton Lewis (57), Dean Reed (26) and Matt Fitt (21).
A good start was made by Reed and Fitt, but when they were dismissed, the Trude, Sutton,Sercombe, Glenny,Hodgin, and Sykess were all blown away by good quick bowling from Fraser, with Lewis hanging on there for his 57 and was one of the last one out trying to get the score up to 200, he hit 5 sixes and 3 fours in his 57 and was bowled by Fraser trying to cut a straight ball
Kingsbridge found runs every bit as hard to come by and as Kev Sercombe (4-46) and Lewis (2-36) worked through the order.
Skipper Adam Buckland (53) got runs at the top of the order, but was dropped at point by Glenny when he was on zero and Chris Bowles made 38 in the middle before he was run out.
At 165 for eight the game was in the balance. Dorey and Chris Browning got the scores level, laving Ian Hargreaves to come in with one needed, and a dreaful over from Johnson gave away 3 wides in his last over leaving the visitors needing 1 run to win, which was got in the first ball of next over.
Clyst are rock bottom on 98 points with five games to save themselves. Results elsewhere were kind to Kingsbridge, who are four off the bottom and have a 10-point cushion over Axminster in the second relegation place.

Clyst Hydon 176 (C Lewis 57, D Reed 26, M Fitt 21; J Dorey 4-24, J Fraser 5-24), Kingsbridge 177-9 (A Buckland 53, C Bowles 38; K Sercombe 4-47, C Lewis 2-36). Kingsbridge (19pts) bt Clyst (8) by 1 wkt.
